The Miss US Nation pageant is one of many national-level beauty pageants held in the United States, along with Miss USA (which chooses the country’s representative for the Miss Universe pageant) and Miss America.

The competition is “centered on shaping the careers of aspiring models by aiding the young girls with self-awareness, confidence development, public speaking & receiving the right exposure to attain their objectives,” according to the Miss US Nation pageant website.

Four rounds of judging are required for contestants in the Miss US Nation Pageant: a panel interview to assess their speaking abilities; a swimsuit/athletic wear section to assess their commitment to a “healthy, fit lifestyle;” a stage performance where contestants do a floor-length evening gown to demonstrate their “poise, elegance, and stage presence;” and an on-stage questioning session.

Dragoi has competed in almost all of San Jose State’s meetings this NCAA season, demonstrating her ability to juggle swimming with a beauty pageant (only missing the November 4 meet against Stanford). She most recently participated at the 2022 Missouri Invite, where she posted season-best times in each of her events and placed 28th in the 50 free (26.28), 12th in the 100 fly (57.28), and 6th in the 200 fly (2:05.50).

(her season-best in the 200 fly is a 2:05.38 from prelims). Dragoi qualified for the 2022 CSCAA National Championships during her first year at SJSU (the 2021–22 NCAA season), where she once again competed in the 200 fly and placed 23rd.
