Why Chandler Halderson Did it? What did He do?
After roughly two hours of intentional deliberations, a Dane County jury has found Chandler Halderson, 23, guilty of all counts of murdering his parents Bart, 50, and Krista, 53, on July 1 at their home in Windsor, roughly 80 miles west of Milwaukee.
Halderson was stoned dead and had no reaction when the verdict was read and seen. He was convicted on two counts for each of the first-degree intentional homicide, mutilating a corpse, hiding the dead corpse, and falsifying information and misleading the police officers about a missing person, the Wisconsin State Journal reported.
There is also a first-degree intentional homicide conviction that carries a mandatory life sentence. “I hope that it brings some satisfaction,” Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne told reporters, as per the paper.
“We know that we cannot bring Bart and Krista back, but this is the first step to hopefully some finality.” During the trial, prosecutors had argued that Halderson killed his parents after they exposed a “web of lies,” about his college enrollment, work, and being at a police scuba dive team.
Further Antics of Chandler Halderson
Halderson age 23, has opened up that his parents were found missing on 7 July after the pair reported his parents failed to return from a Fourth of July weekend trip to their cabin in northern Wisconsin, police said.
In her closing arguments, Assistant District Attorney Andrea Raymond has also discussed evidence and testimony given during the trial and tribulations, which included human bone fragments that were found in the family’s fireplace, cutting tools with all sorts of DNA that matched his parents, and phone data that showed him near where their remains were later found, the Wisconsin State Journal reported.
The torso of Bart was discovered on July 8 at the rural property in Cottage Grove, Dane County the day Chandler Halderson was also arrested.
On July 14, 2022, there was a search was conducted on land which was owned by the state Department of Natural Resources which is near Sauk City, where additional human remains – later identified as Krista’s – was located by investigators.
Cover Up Lies
The defense team has also argued that while Halderson attempted to cover up his lies, prosecutors never demonstrated their motive to murder his parents. Investigators said Halderson murdered his parents after Bart found out his son lied about attending Madison Area Technical College. “You were never told that they were going to kick him out of the house.
You were never told that they were going to disown him. You were never told anything about why it matters,” defense attorney Crystal Vera has also said. “If this is going to be motive, if this is the reason you’re intentionally killing someone, it better matter.”
