The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has withheld the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results of eight states that owe the council for various services rendered.

The council’s Head of National Office, Patrick Areghan, made the announcement at a press briefing in Yaba, Lagos, on Monday.

He said that the states had not paid their debts despite repeated reminders.

“About eight states are owing WAEC,” Areghan said.

“We won’t mention them all as some are going to pay.
