The New York-born musician was best known for the number-one single Come Into My Life. CJ Carlos, a coordinator of events who also worked for Chelsea Football Club, posted on Facebook on Saturday night to share the news of her passing. After speaking with her immediate family tonight, he wrote: “I am posting this news with a heavy heart.”

As most of you are aware, she was scheduled to perform in Portugal in May as one of our USA artists. My heart breaks for her partner Errol, their kids, and their extended family. Sims’ Sleeping Bag Records contract was assumed by Warlock Records in 1994, which issued the single “Who’s Crying Now” after acquiring the record company in 1992. In 2006, she collaborated with record producers Junior Vasquez and Glen Frisica to release the single “What the World Needs Now is Love” from her album A New Beginning. Come into My Life: The Very Best of Joyce Sims, a double-CD compilation of her greatest hits and remixes, was released in 2009.
