Chris Cowdrey and Christel gave birth to Cowdrey on January 30, 1993, in Canterbury, Kent; on his mother’s side, he is of Swedish ancestry. Cowdrey hails from a line of cricket captains, including his father Chris, and his life peer grandfather Colin Cowdrey.
Fabian Cowdrey, his identical twin brother, continued the family history by spending five years as a Kent County Cricket Club player. While singing in the Tonbridge School choir at a young age, Julius discovered his musical talent and passion. At the age of 16, he started writing songs, following in the footsteps of his mother, a jazz singer.
As a regular headliner at music venues in London, such as The Troubadour, Cowdrey introduced live music to the West End nightclub Mahiki in 2013. After finding success in London, Cowdrey started to divide his time between the two cities, spending a lot of time in New York working on his songs before being called to perform at rooftop parties in Los Angeles.
After spending a few years honing his craft, Cowdrey released his debut single, “7 Roads (I See You),” in November 2016. The song peaked at Number 1 on the UK official iTunes singer-songwriter chart and Number 2 on the Spotify UK Viral Chart.
