Popular Nigerian R&B singer, Johnny Drille, has revealed that his wife was the first and only woman he ever dated.
Drille is married to Rima Tahini, Mavin Records Director of A&R and their wedding held secretly more than a year ago.
The ‘How Are You’ crooner revealed that prior to meeting her, he never had a girlfriend in his life, and he knew when he saw her for the second time that she is the one he would marry.
He made this known while having a chat with Iyabo Ojo on her podcast, emphasising that it was love at first sight.
Drille said; “The first time I saw her was at one of my shows in 2018. She was sitting in the front row next to a white woman. At some point, I thought both of them were white. She [Rima] is mixed race.
“So, when I was working on another show in Abuja, we got talking. We met in October and by January, I knew I was going to marry her. And I told her I was going to marry her. For me, it was deep conviction. A lot of people will not believe this but she was my first girlfriend. I never had a girlfriend before her. I married the first woman that I said ‘I love you’ to.”
Meanwhile, in another news…
Following the recent disclosure the Mavin artiste is married, he clarified the nature of his relationship with ‘Far From Home’ star, Tomi Ojo.
Johnny Drille, whose real name is John Ighodaro, dismissed speculations that they are dating and noted that he and Tomi are strictly platonic friends.
It may be recalled that the singer and actress caused rumours to swell when they acted in a romantic manner towards each other in the promotional and main video for his song, ‘Believe Me’.
But he shut down the rumours, saying, “First of all, if you watched the [‘Believe Me’ music] video, you would know that there are two Ojos in the song.
One is Wale Ojo, the other one is Tomi Ojo. It was in a way some kind of pun but it seemed to work well together. But as regards relationship, Tomi Ojo is an amazing person. She’s fantastic person to work with. She’s very great for the music video. That is the much I can say. That’s all I can say.”
